The other night at a tango lesson the teacher danced with me, for about 2 whole phrases of music. (Teachers often demonstrate moves with us students, but just dancing is rare, at least for me, so far.) It was like dancing on air, velvety air, I don't think I took a breath the whole time. We were floating and our feet were doing something mysterious far below, every every second seemed magnified as I stretched my leg as far as possible behind me for a back step, ... ah, so cushioned, how does he make walking feel so soft? And now a turn ...wheee! I'm spinning so fast .....oh it's over, oh my, where are we?
Why doesn't he just teach all these guys to do that? (I get impatient!) Tango doesn't look from the outside like it feels doing it-- like so many things in life! The feeling of velvety floating stayed with me for days!
